Further transfers included technical and project roles at CUB’s Brisbane, Sydney and Abbotsford Breweries. During the late 80’s Rob relocated to Canada working with Carling O’Keefe in Toronto and Vancouver brewing Fosters Lager. Not short of a challenge, Rob relocated to Aurangabad, India for a year assisting in the construction of a brewery to produce Fosters. His work centred on setting up their laboratory, training staff and managing the water treatment and effluent plants. On returning to Abbotsford Rob then developed their Quality Systems and Food Safety Plans to ISO 9000. Environment Management was one of his passions. Rob’s new title in the early 1990’s was QA and Environment Manager. Here he championed Asbestos removal, Legionella management and Water and Trade Waste minimisation activities. Abbotsford was then an international benchmark for water management and was granted numerous awards for their performance by the EPA and water authorities.

Developing a Team Based work organisation and effective liaison with Union members were paramount to building a safe work organisation.

Rob left Fosters [CUB] after 42 years.

His outside passions include cricket, brewing ephemera [labels] and fishing. He has been an AIBA judge for the last 10 years and enjoys visiting micro breweries.

Rob has been a member of the IBD for over 20 years, a Regional Co Ordinator for over 15 years and awarded Fellowship to the IBD in 2002
