2012 ASIA PACIFIC CONVENTION
We are currently in the process of mailing out copies of the CD of the Proceedings of the Convention. Unfortunately, we have insufficient copies to provide to every member. If you do not receive a copy in the next few weeks and would like to receive one we have a limited number in stock. Please email me at editor@ibdasiapac.com.au.
However a copy of the Proceedings of all the Technical Papers and Posters presented during the Convention have now been uploaded on to our Website under "Asia Pacific Matters - Convention Proceedings".
The Power Point presentations from each of the Speakers on the Craft Brewers Day are now also available on this Website.

The Beer Academy is one of the IBD's major educational programmes in the United Kingdom, aiming to help drinkers develop a sophisticated understanding of beer's diverse wonders . The Beer Academy has appointed local beeer experts from Brewtique to manage the various courses in Australia.
The courses range in depth starting with a 90 minute tasting session that develops a basic understanding of beer styles and how to taste them. Advanced courses include a multi-day Advanced Beer Tasting course to the ultimate beer qualification of Beer Sommelier which requires extensive training, experience and practical exams.
The Beer Academy has already been launched in Brisbane with courses to be available in Sydney in early June and further launches in Newcastle, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
At the recent launch in Sydney a beer and food matching course was conducted at the Lord Nelson Hotel with a small number of media and IBD representatives. This was an excellent event which was a great introduction to what will prove to be a great innovation in beer education in Australia. See the Gallery for photos of the Sydney launch.
Our vision is to roll out the Beer Academy throughout Australia in 2012, move to NZ & the South Pacific in 2013 and then into the Asia Pacific region (with Beer Academy HQ approval) in 2014.
Our website http://www.beeracademyoz.com/ is up and running and current courses are advertised. The website will continue to be upgraded.
We have many followers on Twitter and use this as a communication tool. We are also on Facebook
We have a number of tutors already but are finalising others. Current tutors are: Neal Cameron, Ian Watson, Tina Panoutsos, Matt Kirkegaard, Stephen Nelson, Pete Mitcham
We have started with the 90 min Tasting sessions and have just offered the first How to Judge Beer Course available for booking. Other courses will be offered in the future as we make minor modifications to make them more relevant in this region
We will also be targeting corporate businesses with bespoke courses and discussing (with brewers) the inclusion of a Beer Academy course as part of an induction program for employees at breweries (large and small) ***********************************************************
